WEATHERFORD (WBAP/KLIF) – A Weatherford ISD school teacher has died after getting sick with the flu.

The School District said in a statement released Monday that no official cause of death had been given, but it’s believed that Heather Holland, a 2nd Grade teacher, at Ikard Elementary died from complications with the flu. Counselors are at the campus this week to help students, staff and parents. The district said staff has been deep cleaning schools since December and Ikard underwent another deep cleaning last Friday. Students and parents are reminded to stay home if feeling sick, and to wash hands as much possible.

The Center for Disease Control said Friday that the flu season has not peaked yet in the United States. It’s believed that the flu season could last into March.
