Texas to bring back 2000’s-era license plate as an option

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – If you were a fan of the 2000’s-era Texas standard-issue license plate, bearing a space shuttle, and a horse-riding cowboy, you’re in luck.

The Texas D.M.V. and MyPlates.com are planning to re-release the design, known as TX 2000, as a specialty plate option for cars and trucks throughout the state starting next year.

The plate design would need 200 pre-orders to send it into production. Buyers can either have a random standard number, or pick their own message for a little more.

The DMV issued a news release Wednesday saying they hope on “bringing back one of the state’s most popular general-issue license plate designs.”

Texans wishing to pre-order the Texas 2000 plate design, with personalization or without, can visit www.MyPlates.com or call the My Plates customer service center at 888-769-7528, M-F 8a-5p.
