Crews Remove Robert E. Lee Statue From Lee Park in Dallas

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Crews at Lee Park in Dallas have removed the Robert E. Lee statue from its pedestal onto a flatbed to haul it away.

A crane, with Dallas police escort, arrived at the park around 4:00pm Thursday and removed the statue after nearly three hours of preparation.

The Dallas City Council voted earlier this month to remove the statue.

Mayor Mike Rawlings says he was moved by recent violent events in Charlottesville to take down the city-owned monument.
