Original Story:
DENTON (WBAP/KLIF News) – A man was shot and killed inside a Denton bar early this morning.
It happened at The Library Bar on Fry Street near the University of North Texas campus.
“Two or three hispanic males and two or three black males exchanged some words. As a result, one of the hispanic males shot the black male in the head,” said Officer Shane Kizer.
Sources tell WBAP the victim was not a UNT student and was a former Denton Guyer High School football player. His name will not be confirmed by police until they reach contact with his family.
“It’s mainly a college hangout,” Kizer said of the bar. “It is kind of a melting pot. So you have a lot of different demographics come together. Every once in a while it does cause a heated exchange and sometimes it gets physical.”
Police are investigating what led up to the shooting. No arrests have been made, but authorities say they do have leads on a suspect.
