Dallas Police Make Second Arrest in the Murder of an Oak Cliff Convenient Store Clerk

sunshine-murderDallas (WBAP/KLIF News) – Dallas Police made a second arrest in the murder of a convenient store clerk in Oak Cliff.

Investigators said James Otis Slaughter and his alleged accomplice Lonzell Hunter shot and killed Mowaffaq Shararah at the Sunshine Food Mart on South Cockrell Hill Road during a violent crime spree on September 23, 2016.

Slaughter was taken into custody by the U.S Marshals on Monday and booked on a capital murder charge with a $500,000 bond.

According to an affidavit, witnesses recognized Hunter from surveillance videos released to the public.

One witness told detectives that Hunter allegedly admitted to his part in the crime.

Hunter is also accused in the murder of a Dallas mother who was killed while trying to sell her IPhone in the parking lot of Medieval Times earlier this month.

Investigators said Martha Teran had arranged to sell the phone to Hunter, who allegedly shot her during the transaction.

Police said numerous tips led to both Hunter and Slaughter’s arrests.
