(UPDATE 10:50 a.m.) – CNN is reporting one person is dead after a shooting at Alpine High School in West Texas. CNN, citing Brewster County Attorney J. Steve Houston, said the shooting happened in the school’s band hall. Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson told KVLF/KALP, a radio station in Alpine, the suspected shooter shot herself and is dead.
One student was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the “lower extremities,” said Dodson. A spokeswoman for Big Bend Regional Medical Center in Alpine said hospital personnel were tending to three “victims.” Dodson said one of the “victims” is an officer. “It appeared one federal agent accidentally shot the other,” he said.
Dodson said a total of five shots were fired inside the school.
