Ennis (WBAP/KLIF News) – Ennis police officers fatally shot a man in a church parking lot after he crashed into two patrol cars during a traffic stop last night. According to a police statement, officers stopped Moses Ruben of Dallas around 9 pm for speeding. They pulled into the Way Truth and Life Church in the 1700 block of N. Kaufman St. and that’s where the situation escalated.
Police said the officer learned that Ruben had an invalid driver’s license and outstanding warrants out of two Texas cities. They said the officer attempted to arrest Ruben but he refused. After back up arrived, police said Ruben tried to leave the scene and crashed his car into two squad cars, just narrowly missing the officers.
Police said officers fired three shots and hit Ruben once when he tried to drive at them a second time. He was declared dead at the scene. The officers have been placed on administrative leave and the Texas Rangers have taken over the investigation.
