FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – The mother of a North Texas teenager, who killed four people in a drunk driving crash, has been released from home confinement and has a job.
Tonya Couch still has to wear a GPS monitor. Her attorneys filed for the changes Tuesday so she can work at her new job, which is a bar in Azle.
Couch was indicated in May for money laundering and hindering the apprehension of her son, Ethan, 19. They disappeared in late 2015 after a video surfaced on Twitter purportedly showing Ethan Couch playing “beer pong,” which would be a violation of his probation, according to police. The mother and son duo was arrested in Mexico a few weeks later.
Ethan Couch was convicted and given 10 years probation for the deadly drunken driving crash in 2013. He remains behind bars at a maximum security prison in Fort Worth.
