DENTON (WBAP/KLIF News) – There were two attempts to loot gun shops in Denton early Thursday morning.
Police said thieves rammed a stolen car into the “White Wing Weapons” shop around 1:00 a.m. About an hour later, someone slammed a stolen truck into the “Call to Arms” store.
“They caused a lot of damage, but they didn’t get much,” said police spokesman Shane Kizer. “It doesn’t appear, at this time, that they got away with any firearms.”
Kizer said the two crimes appear to be related. “They appear to be similar, but that’s is speculation at this point in time.”
Press release from the Denton Police Department:
At 12:57 am, Denton Police officers responded to a call for service in the 5100 block of E. University Drive. The call initially was believed to be a minor accident. Upon arrival, it was learned suspect(s) had used a pickup truck to attempt to burglarize the building there.
White Wing Weaponry is a business in that building that sells firearms. The suspect(s) struck the side of the building adjacent to the business using a stolen red pickup. They were
unsuccessful in the attempt to gain access inside the business. The suspect(s) fled the scene, leaving the stolen vehicle there.

At 2:15 am, Denton Police received another burglary call at Call to Arms on 600 Dallas Drive. A vehicle had struck the side of the business punching a large hole in the front exterior wall.
Suspect(s) were able to gain access inside the business. However, all firearms are kept locked in a safe and it doesn’t appear any weapons were missing. A small television and a laptop were
apparently stolen. The suspect(s) used a white dually truck to ram the building. It is unknown at this time if the vehicle was stolen. The suspect(s) also fled the scene using the same vehicle. No arrests have been made at this time. Although both burglaries appear very similar, it has not been determined if they are related.
The investigation is ongoing.
