I haven’t had cable in several months, it’s way too expensive. I miss it sometimes, but I don’t feel like I’m missing out on much. There are times when I really wish I had cable, like on Sundays when I can’t watch football, or if my beloved Chicago Cubs are playing a network baseball game. I loved having a DVR and being able to record all my favorite shows, but I never had time to watch them and pretty soon, the DVR hard drive was full.
I have a huge DVD collection, I have internet and subscriptions to different streaming services, so I’m never without something to watch. But there are those times when I would just love to channel surf and come across some old movie I haven’t seen in years and just sit and enjoy it. Sure, I probably have the movIe in my DVD library. It’s probably also available to order a copy online fairly cheap. But, there’s something about being able to watch it on TV that gives the film a certain kind of nostalgia.
All this TV talk has me thinking about signing up for cable, again. But maybe I’ll just go home and dive into the 11 seasons of M*A*S*H or 15 seasons of ER I have on the bookshelf. I might also be able to find something new to watch online. Suggestions?
