Teen Arrested, Charged with Murder in Shooting Death of Allen High School Student

PLANO (WBAP/KLIF)- Plano Police arrested 17-year-old Kemond Smith of Forney. He’s been charged with murder for the shooting death of 16 year old Marquel Ellis Jr.
David Tilley with the Plano Police Department said this happened at a party Saturday night in a home near Spring Creek Parkway. Tilley said several kids got kicked out and when they came back Smith shot in the house from outside, striking Ellis Jr. No one else was hit.

Ellis Jr. was taken to a local hospital where he later died. He was a sophomore at Allen High School and a wide receiver on the school’s JV football team. Smith is currently being held in the Plano City Jail.

Tilley said police continue to investigate the shooting and if Smith intended to shoot Ellis Jr. when he fired shots into the house.
