DFW Airport Making Changes to its Pick-Up and Drop-Off Policy

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – DFW International Airport will be implementing changes to its curbside pick-up and drop-off policy.

Starting September 8th, drivers will not be allowed to sit in their cars idly at the curb unless actively loading or unloading.

This Uber driver frequents the airport and admits that things can get hectic at times.

“If you coming out to pick your friend or loved ones, you may not know the rules like to pull over where it’s designated to pick up passengers, stay outside like,” she said.

CEO Sean Donohue said the airport’s unique design prompted the changes.

“What happens is we get a lot of traffic on the upper level. The vast majority comes to the upper level because that is where people are getting picked up and dropped off”, he said.

Although violaters could be issued a citation for ignoring the new rules, Donohue said that is not the airport’s goal.

“We’re not going to be out saying “we’re going to write you a ticket.” We’re just going to say  “move on” and show them where to park in the garages,” he said.

Signs will be posted to alert drivers of the changes. The airport is adding 1200 free one to two hour parking spots.
