Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – A kid who tried to steal a care from a far north Dallas gas station overnight, is recovering after being shot by the car’s owner.
It happened at the Racetrac off the George Bush Turnpike and Marsh Lane around 12:15 this morning.
Police say the owner of the car was inside the Racetrac and spotted the juvenile pulling out of the parking lot in his vehicle. The owner then raced outside and shot him with a gun he was carrying.

The kid ran about a mile away before flagging down someone who help him. Around the same time, police pulled up and determined that the youth was the attempted car thief.
He’s in Children’s Hospital in guarded police custody with non-life threatening injuries.
