DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Judge Elizabeth Frizell said Monday that she will not request a recount in her primary race against John Creuzot for District Attorney. On election night March 6, the Dallas County Election Commission indicated on its website a 506 vote difference between Frizell and Creuzot. The Dallas County Election Commission continued to receive votes from election night through Wednesday, March 14 when the final results were announced. Many of the ballots received that week were included in the final count among them mail-in ballots.
“The election results announced by the Dallas County Elections Commission on March 14 showed a razor thin difference of 589 votes between myself and my opponent, out of a total of 112,701 votes cast in the Democratic Primary election,” said Judge Frizell. “The Texas Election Code permits a recount when there is less than a 10% difference in votes between two candidates. Although I was less than 1% away from my opponent’s vote total, after careful consideration of many factors, I have decided not to seek a recount of the votes.”
Frizell said that countless people have reached out to her office concerning their inability to vote in the race due to ballot error and other violations.
“Evidence of mail- in voter fraud and other forms of malfeasance currently under investigation leads me to believe that misconduct impacted this outcome,” said Frizell. “While no one wishes to move on from this process more than me and my family, I have a responsibility to the voters to ensure the process that I campaigned for them to participate in, many for the first time ever, was fair and impartial.”
Creuzot will now face Republican incumbent Faith Johnson in November.
