The North Texas Tollway Authority is Increasing Tolls on Highways

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – It’s going to cost more money for drivers who decide to take the tollways in North Texas next month.

The North Texas Tollway Authority said the tolls will increase about a penny per mile for drivers with a toll tag.

Drivers without a toll tag will pay 50 percent more.

“We’re certainly aware that there’s a choice involved every time somebody gets on a toll road.”

The NTTA’s Michael Rey said the department is paying off bonds and also expanding the Dallas North Tollway and Bush Turnpike.

“A lot of what we’re doing what now is improving widening and lessening congestion on our existing roads,” he said.

Rey said the NTTA will spend the next decade widening Bush Turnpike to accommodate growth in this part of Collin County.

The NTTA continues to grow and Rey said the Highway 360 toll road just south of I-20 should open next year.

“It should unlock the areas of South Arlington, Mansfield and South Grand Prairie,” he said.

The NTTA will spend almost a billion dollars on construction over the next five years.
