Mineral Wells (WBAP/KLIF News) – Two people were taken to the hospital after a plane crashed at the Mineral Wells Airport. The Federal Aviation Administration said the twin-engine Piper Comanche with three people on board was attempting to land around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday when it crashed into a field.
The pilot and one passenger were transported by helicopter to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. One passenger managed to walk away from the crash.
The FAA said the pilot reported engine trouble before the plane went down on the shoulder of MH 379 about a 1/4 of mile northwest of the airport.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the aircraft lost power. The plane is registered to a man with a registered address in Temple, Texas.
The Mineral Wells Airport is a public use airport that sits between Parker and Palo Pinto Counties. The FAA is investigating the crash.
