WYLIE (WBAP/KLIF News) A Texas mayor has friends in magical places, and his connection inspired a house resolution in hopes of recognizing magic as something more than a hobby. The mayor of Wylie, Eric Hogue, got David Copperfield on board to push for the methods of magicians to be more formally recognized as an art. Congressman Pete Sessions is now on board with Hogue and Copperfield, and the resolution hit the house floor last week. The bill has been referred to a committee but does not have a date set yet for a vote. If it passes, magicians’ tricks would be protected intellectual property.
